Stenli Galaxy Cake is an exceptionally lightweight, voluminous mohair-style yarn with soft, shimmering wisps that sparkle subtly like a starry sky.

Galaxy embraces the contemporary trend for airy mohair-and-wool yarns with colourful, sparkling accents. It combines warmth, lightness and a delicate shimmer, adding an elegant touch to women’s knitwear.

Available in convenient 250 g yarn cakes, with a smooth transition between two shades for a beautiful ombré effect, or in solid colours.

What can you make?

Suitable for both knitting and crochet, Galaxy offers plenty of scope for creating distinctive warm garments and accessories.

Approximate yarn requirements:

• Scarf or hat: 1 cake.

• Cardigan: 2 cakes.

• Jacket: 2–3 cakes.

• Sweater: 2 cakes.

• Long winter coat: 3–4 cakes.

The amount required depends on the size, pattern and tension.

Softness, warmth and a delicate shimmer

The yarn combines quality merino wool, mohair, acrylic, polyester and lurex to provide comforting warmth on cold days.

Soft, shimmering wisps of textile lamé are scattered along the yarn, playfully catching the light. Beyond their decorative appeal, the effect thread helps improve durability and maintain the shape and dimensions of your finished pieces, while preserving their softness and volume.

Recommended needles, hook and tension

For an airy fabric, we recommend using larger needles or a crochet hook:

• Crochet hook: 6–8 mm.

• Knitting needles: 6–8 mm.

• Knitting tension: 12 stitches × 14 rows = 10 × 10 cm.

• 35% merino wool

• 5% mohair

• 20% acrylic

• 25% polyester

• 15% lurex

Care instructions

Gently hand wash in lukewarm water using a detergent suitable for wool. Carefully remove excess water and lay flat to dry.
